New Global Service and Repair Facility to Revolutionize Customer Support for Okuma America Corp.

Okuma America Corp. has announced plans to create a state of the art global service and repair facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, a major step to enhance its customer service capabilities. The new facility, expected to open in 2025, would be an expansion of the company’s existing corporate headquarters campus.

Facility Specifications and Capabilities

Okuma’s technical services and support group will occupy the upcoming 35,000 square foot facility, which will include a full range of services. These include:

  • Mechanical and electrical component exchanges
  • Repairs and upgrades
  • The creation of replacement components for Okuma legacy technologies.

The facility will feature dedicated spaces for various critical operations:

  • Spindles and parts inspection
  • Assembly and testing
  • Repairing computer boards
  • CNC control simulation

The expansive warehouse that is a key feature of the new facility is capable of storing thousands of inventoried parts. This extensive inventory is an extension of Okuma’s wide product range and is an expression of Okuma’s zero-obsolescence policy.

Impact on Customer Service

Okuma’s senior manager of field service, Mike Hampton, stressed that the facility could make a big difference for customer support. Hampton said the new Okuma global service and repair facility will allow us to better support customers by reducing repair times and allowing them to increase utilization of their machine tools in their manufacturing facilities.

Okuma’s local service and support network, supplied by the company’s distribution partners, is expected to work in tandem with the facility. This synergy is designed to raise the service and support level customers receive for their Okuma machines.

Strategic Implications

Okuma America Corp. is expanding this way as a strategic move to better position itself in both regional and global markets. By centralizing its service and repair operations in a state of the art facility, Okuma is well positioned to deliver faster, more efficient service to its customers throughout the manufacturing sector.

Okuma’s dedication to customer satisfaction and leading the CNC machine tool industry is furthered by the new global service and repair facility. The manufacturing community will be watching closely as the 2025 opening approaches to see how this investment translates into better service and support for Okuma’s large customer base.
