Used Haas UMC

Shop used Haas UMC universal machining centers at Premier Equipment, including the UMC-750 and UMC-750SS. These 5-axis mills suit parts that need machining on several faces without repeated trips back to the vise. A built-in tilting rotary table brings more of the part within reach. For shops already running Haas equipment, a UMC adds multi-sided machining with a familiar control platform. Start with the part and fixture size, then compare the spindle and options on each machine. UMC configurations vary by model and year, so the model name alone does not tell the whole story. Browse the listings below for individual machine details. If you need a particular UMC configuration, contact our team to discuss availability and pricing.

Used Haas UMC-750: room for the part and its fixture

The UMC-750 is worth a look when several setups on a conventional mill are tying up people and equipment. A housing with holes on different faces, for example, may spend more time being repositioned than being cut. Bringing those operations onto a trunnion-style machine can reduce handling and repeated locating. Haas lists 30-inch X, 20-inch Y and 20-inch Z travels for the UMC-750. Its two rotary axes tilt and rotate the workpiece for access from different directions. Those travels are a starting point for comparison, not a promise that a part of that size will clear every angle. Fixture height, tool length and the part's swing all take up room. A tall fixture that works upright can create a clearance problem when tilted. Bring the complete setup into the discussion before choosing a machine by its travel numbers.

UMC-750, UMC-750SS or another UMC model?

The standard and Super Speed versions share a model family, but used machines can carry very different equipment. Compare the actual spindle, tool changer and control options rather than assuming an SS badge answers every question.
Model family Where to start the comparison What can change the decision
UMC-500 Smaller parts and tighter floor-space requirements Fixture access, available travel and room around the machine
UMC-750 Multi-sided work that needs more room than the smaller UMC Part swing, fixture height and the installed equipment
UMC-750SS Jobs where faster spindle or machine movements may help Actual spindle specification, cutting strategy and time saved per cycle
UMC-1000 Larger parts or fixtures that push beyond the smaller models Usable work envelope, floor space and moving costs
Equipment does not always follow the pattern a buyer expects. Our 2022 UMC-750 listing specifies a 15,000 rpm spindle and 50+1 tool capacity. Those are details of that listed machine, not specifications for every UMC-750. Confirm the equipment and availability with us before making a buying decision. Our broader used Haas milling machine selection is also useful if most of your work can stay on a conventional vertical mill.

3+2 positioning and simultaneous 5-axis work

A UMC can make sense before your shop has a job requiring continuous 5-axis cutting. In 3+2 machining, the rotary axes position the part at an angle, then hold it while the linear axes machine the feature. That can reduce the fixtures and manual repositioning needed for multi-sided parts. Simultaneous 5-axis machining moves the linear and rotary axes together during the cut. It is useful for contours and tool-access problems that indexed positions cannot handle as well. Haas describes the UMC series as supporting both approaches, but programming requirements still need attention on a used purchase. Match the machine's installed software, CAM postprocessor and workholding to the work you intend to run. A familiar control helps an operator get comfortable; it does not remove the need to prove out a new 5-axis process.

Talk through the complete purchase with Premier

Tell us what you are making, the material and which setups you want to remove. We can discuss the available machine details and help you compare a UMC with other used 5-axis CNC machines. The purchase budget should leave room for workholding, tooling, freight and installation. We can discuss rigging and shipping coordination, and our used CNC financing options provide another way to plan the purchase. Haas UMC FAQs

What does UMC mean on a Haas machine?

UMC means Universal Machining Center. The Haas UMC family uses a built-in tilting rotary table for multi-sided milling, including 3+2 positioning and simultaneous 5-axis machining. The model and its installed equipment determine the usable capacity for a particular job.

What are the travels on a Haas UMC-750?

Haas lists 30 inches of X travel, 20 inches of Y travel and 20 inches of Z travel for the UMC-750. Confirm the specifications for the used machine you are considering. The part, fixture and cutting tools must also clear the machine through the required rotary positions.

Is a UMC-750SS always the better used purchase?

No. A UMC-750SS may be attractive when its speed package helps the work you run, but condition, installed options and price still matter. Compare the actual equipment on both machines and the cycle-time benefit for your parts before paying more for a particular designation.

Can Premier help if the UMC model I want is not listed?

Contact Premier with the model, required capacity, budget and timing. We can discuss current availability and your machine requirements. Inventory changes, so a listed model or previous sale does not guarantee that the same configuration is available today.
