The VF-4 is worth considering when longer plates, multiple vises or dedicated fixtures are pushing the limits of your current mill. Haas lists the standard VF-4 with 50 x 20 x 25 inches of X, Y and Z travel and a 40-taper spindle. That extra X-axis room can help you reach more of a long workpiece without moving it. The setup still has to allow for tool access, clamps and clearance throughout the cut. If your parts already fit comfortably on a Haas VF-2, a larger machine may not solve the production problem.
