Compact turning starts with the whole job
The Lynx family is a compact horizontal turning platform. For a shop adding capacity for smaller turned parts, that can be a useful starting point. Compact does not mean every Lynx has the same bar capacity, chuck arrangement or working length, however. DN Solutions lists both Lynx 2100 and 2600 series configurations.
Consider the stock before the finished part. A component may fit the turning envelope but require bar that will not pass through the installed workholding. Chucking work raises a different question: whether the jaws, tool approach and part support leave enough working room. Allow for the stock, jaws and tools when judging whether the part fits.
Decide what should happen after turning
A two-axis machine can be the sensible purchase when most work consists of turning, boring and threading. If the same parts then wait for drilling or milling elsewhere, a suitably equipped Lynx may bring those operations together. The value is in reducing handling or freeing another machine, not collecting options that rarely get used.
| Lynx configuration choice | Work it can suit | Detail that changes the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Two-axis turning | Primarily rotational parts | Workholding, stock passage and usable turning length |
| Live-tool configuration | Suitable drilled or milled features | Driven tools, spindle positioning and holder package |
| Y-axis configuration | Features requiring off-center tool movement | Actual Y travel, clearance and tool access |
| Subspindle-equipped configuration | Second-end machining after transfer | Transfer capability, second-end tooling and part removal |
These are separate capabilities. Live tooling does not establish that the machine has a Y axis, and a Y-axis machine does not automatically include a subspindle. Use the complete model designation to identify candidates, then compare their documented equipment. Do not apply one Lynx specification sheet across the family.
DN Solutions Lynx and earlier Doosan machines
Doosan Machine Tools changed its name to DN Solutions in May 2022. Lynx continued within the same manufacturer's lineup. If you are open to earlier-badged machines, browse our used Doosan Lynx machines as well.
That history does not mean a later-badged Lynx is a direct replacement for every older Lynx. Controls, configurations and included equipment need their own comparison. Nor does the corporate rename create a reliable cutoff for every listing's model year or badge. Identify the machine itself when planning program transfers or support.
Leave room for the equipment around the lathe
The lathe's footprint is only part of the installation. Bar handling, the chip conveyor and service access can take meaningful space. A compact machine with a feeder needs a different layout from a manually loaded chucking machine. Plan for the way material arrives and finished parts leave.
For repeat bar work, establish whether a feeder is included and appropriate for your stock. Likewise, a parts catcher or other handling equipment must be identified in the sale. A newer badge does not establish that automation, monitoring software or every brochure option is installed.
The purchase budget should also cover the holders and workholding needed for the first jobs. A live-tool machine without the right holders is not ready for those operations simply because the turret can drive them. Compare the complete package before choosing between asking prices.
Premier can help discuss machine availability and coordinate rigging and trucking quotes. Used CNC financing can be part of that conversation, subject to approval and terms. If no listing matches your work, contact us with the stock size, part length and operations you want to keep at the lathe.
Used DN Solutions Lynx FAQs
Is a DN Solutions Lynx the same brand lineage as Doosan Lynx?
Yes. Doosan Machine Tools became DN Solutions in May 2022, and Lynx continued in the lineup. The names reflect that history, but they do not establish identical equipment, control features or specifications across generations.
Does every DN Solutions Lynx include Y-axis machining?
No. The family includes different turning and milling configurations. Confirm Y-axis capability on the specific machine rather than inferring it from the Lynx name or the presence of live tooling.
Should I choose a Lynx 2100 or Lynx 2600?
Compare the complete versions against your stock, workholding and required operations. The family number alone does not answer the buying question. Turning length, spindle arrangement and installed options determine which candidate can handle the job.
Can I buy a used Lynx for bar-fed production?
A suitable configuration may fit that work. Confirm the machine's usable bar capacity and the compatible feeding and part-handling equipment included in the offer. Call (407) 786-2000 to discuss the production package rather than assuming a feeder comes with every listing.
