Match the Lynx to your work
A shop making bushings, pins or short shafts may need dependable turning capacity more than another set of axes. A turning-focused Lynx can be worth comparing when the job is mostly facing, turning, boring and threading. Additional equipment earns its place when it removes a real operation or handling step.
For parts with flats or cross holes, a milling-equipped version may keep work out of a separate setup. Y-axis capability opens different tool-positioning choices, while a subspindle can support back-end work after transfer. Those capabilities are separate. A machine advertised with live tooling is not automatically equipped with both of the others.
Keep the model year attached to the specification
Used Doosan Lynx searches bring together older Lynx 220 machines, later 2100 models and different suffixes. Do not treat them as one specification sheet. Chuck arrangements, turning length and installed equipment can vary, even when two listings look similar in photographs.
The manufacturer's current Lynx range separates two-axis turning, milling-equipped and Y-axis machines. That is useful for understanding the choices, but a current DN Solutions brochure does not establish an older Doosan machine's capacity. Use documentation for the machine being offered.
When replacing an existing Lynx, matching the familiar name is only the beginning. Toolholders, workholding, control details and program compatibility deserve a separate discussion. A replacement that accepts the part may still need different setup equipment before it can take over the job.
Compare turning and secondary-operation configurations
| Configuration | Work it can suit | Purchase consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Turning-focused Lynx | Parts dominated by round features | Match chucking, bar capacity and supported length |
| Lynx with driven tooling | Turning plus suitable drilling or milling | Confirm the actual milling arrangement and included holders |
| Lynx with Y-axis capability | Off-center features within the machine's travel | Allow for tool reach and clearance around the workpiece |
| Lynx with subspindle | Back-end operations after part transfer | Plan the transfer grip and tooling for both ends |
Choose by the operations you intend to run, not by counting letters in an advertisement. Full model suffixes help identify the machine, but the equipment record should resolve any uncertainty. Paying more for a feature you will not use leaves less money for the tooling that your current job needs.
Doosan and DN Solutions: same lineage, different generations
Doosan Machine Tools became DN Solutions in May 2022, as recorded in the manufacturer's company history. This page focuses on used machines carrying the Doosan identity. Compare our used DN Solutions Lynx machines if you are widening the search, but evaluate their generation and equipment on their own merits.
For support discussions, keep the full model, serial number and control information together. Those details are more useful than asking about a generic Doosan lathe. Confirm the service and parts path for the specific machine before building a production plan around it.
Leave room in the budget for getting parts out
An attractive asking price is only useful if the machine suits the work. Year, condition and included equipment affect value, and hours need the context of operating and maintenance history. A bar feeder or tooling shown alongside a machine is not necessarily included in the quoted package.
If you intend to feed bar, establish the feeder compatibility and material range before assuming you have a complete production cell. Part collection, chip handling and operator access also affect the floor layout. A compact lathe can need considerably more working room once its supporting equipment is in place.
Premier can help coordinate rigging and trucking quotes. Discuss the destination, loading timing and installation needs alongside the machine purchase. Financing options are subject to approval and terms. Contact our team with your part size and preferred model to discuss availability.
Used Doosan Lynx FAQs
Is Doosan Lynx now called DN Solutions Lynx?
Doosan Machine Tools became DN Solutions, and Lynx remains part of that machine-tool lineage. Older used machines may carry the Doosan name. The branding connection does not mean an older and newer machine have identical controls, capacity or equipment.
Does every Doosan Lynx have live tooling?
No. Lynx machines include turning-focused and milling-equipped configurations. Confirm the actual machine's equipment rather than assuming the family name establishes live tooling, Y-axis travel or a subspindle.
Can a used Lynx run with a bar feeder?
A suitable Lynx and compatible feeder can support bar-fed work. The feeder, interface, workholding and material size must suit the specific machine. Ask whether the feeder is included, and avoid treating a photograph as the sale agreement.
Should I choose a Lynx 220 or a Lynx 2100?
Compare the exact year and configuration against your parts. Model names alone do not settle usable capacity, secondary-operation capability or tooling cost. For replacement work, include your existing fixtures and programs in the discussion before choosing either machine.
